18-08-23 to 18-08-24 Bigelow and Avery

I climbed the Bigelow mountains on the 23rd I was surprised to find that my legs were much stronger. The climb was long and steep, but I was able to get to the top of multiple peaks with out stopping. The peaks were above the tree line so you have a view on all sides. It was spectacular and in August blueberries were abundant.

I stopped at little Bigelow lean-to and stayed in the shelter it had rained all day and I didn't want to get the tent wet. There were three people going nobo. Two women and a man they were probably collage age but they seemed so young. They had 172 miles to go, probably two weeks hiking, They had formed a Tramaly -trail family- they seemed so young. I gave one of the girls a pair of Ininji socks she was down to one pair and they were very wet. I am sure they made it and I hope my socks helped here.

I remember coming down Avery mountain it was steep and you had to step from one end table sized rock to an other each tilted a different way quite difficult. You would have to step from one to the other with out stopping until you found on flat enough to stand on. I was pleased to find that my legs were getting stronger. I topped multiple mountains with out stopping except for lunch.

Went home to give my knee a rest. I was restless and wished that I hadn't pulled off the trail.
