We went to tombstone and Bisbee it was a wonder full day with freinds. We drove about 3 hours South of Phoenix to Tombstone
ne. Tombstone was a tourist trap. We road the stage coach but didn't pay to see the reenactment of the gunfight at the OK corral. which was actually fought in the ally behind Fremont street
The coach ride was fun the guy on top kept up a cute patter describing the different places. The town was a silver mine during the time of the gun fight and is over many mines. The driver said that there were ever you are in Tombstone you are over a mine. Cattle rustling by the Cowboys a gang headed by the Cantons' stealing cattle in Mexico and selling it in Tombstone. There was and escalation of hostilities between the Clanton's' and the Earp's over this rustling that lead up to the Gunfight.
One of the streets just off of Fremont had about 300 bars. Most of these bars consisted of two barrels and a board. We went into the Big Nose Kate Saloon. (http://bignosekates.info) We had a whiskey called Old Overholt a very good a rye whisky that has been around since 1810. At Big Nose Kate's I asked a cute young woman to stand next to Tom she very nicely did.
After that we headed to Bisbee.
Bisbee is an old mining town about ten miles North of Mexico. It has a ton of cute stores and we went to dinner at the Bisbee’s Table I ordered the West Texas Millionaire a very good burger with pepper jack and jalapenos. Hot enough to make me sweat. The town had many people that seemed rather artistic. We stopped briefly at a shop were the guy makes guitars using hubcaps suitcases and anything else he could find. The walls of many of the building had art on it. I would hate to call this graffiti. It reminded me of a small collage town.
.
A wonderful day trip.
