HI when dad was young (in his 20tys) he drove to Alaska to be with uncle Freddy. He spent some time in Fairbanks and then went on up to Anchorage. where he worked for a mine maintaining their radios.
Uncle Dwayne lived most of his life with Grandmother Cox. A dutiful son.
He was
a Highway construction engineer
a farmer
a father (Kevin, Keith and Anna)
a hunter (Remember the shotgun story)
a good and loving son
a good man
I am not sure why I am thinking of Uncle Dwayne, but I am. He lived most of his life with Grand mother Cox (Beryl) She lived to be 101 ish and went to a nursing home only when she was 99 and started falling down due to mini strokes.
Dwayne had bought the farmstead when she was over 80 for not much I seem to remember it as a buck and letting Grandmother continue to live there.
I have many things I remember about Dwayne
Most nights after he got home from working at the highway department he would go out to the pasture and adjust the irrigation . There was a small canal at the top of the field and Dwayne would adjust the weir box and walk the canal using suction tubes. And once he had them flowing he would cut trenches that would move the water to were he wanted it.
I was sitting in church this morning and they were talking about Gods love. As well as his justness and compassion and at the same time saying that it applies only to those that accept Christ. Which means that a loving God is condemning people to eternal suffering. Now I can see why you could make someone suffer to cure them from a malady or kill them if it couldn't be cured, but not condemn someone to suffer for eternity with no hope of salvation. Therefor I believe that God is getting everyone into heaven or will destroy them utterly on the rare instance when they are past salvation. Sadly the bible as written doesn't support this or the ones written by Paul anyway. I have wondered if the bible was re written to support the church and the ones that tell about the true gift that Christ gave us was removed in order to make the church more necessary. I have prayed for understanding and I still pray for understanding. The answer that I keep getting is that a loving God will save everyone.
Well this weekend Tam and I went up to Drummond Island with Ken and Deb. We had good fish and a good taco at the local restaurants. Deb cooked a good chicken parmigiano and the Saturday breakfast was scrambled eggs and cinnamon rolls. As usual the cabin is nice and relaxing. The fire we have burning down stairs is nice and warm. Ken and Deb are wonderful hoasts. The days have been as good as you can expect at Drummond in April. Cool (mid and high sixties ) and sunny what a wonderful time.
I am sitting (OK standing) watching the photographer position Tammy and she is being placed in passive positions. The position that they placed me were power positions. I'm sure that the photographer doesn't mean to do it but there it is.
I was trading an article on how Switzerland had rejected paying about 2500 franks to each of the citizens just for being Swiss. The reason that they thought they wanted to do this was that many Jobs are being replaced by robots.
It occurs to me that more and more jobs are being taken over by computers. It does not seem to be slowing down. An example is self driving cars , and now we have some engineering tasks are being done by computers.
Obama recently talked in Dallas. As I listen to his speech it occurs to me that he realizes that under his watch America has become more divided, the gap between the rich and poor is greater, there are now ten thousand troops in Afghanistan, the affordable care act is still hated, and other things.
I can see that Obama will be considered one of the worst presidents that America has had. I am sure that he see's this as well and wants to do something to improve his legacy. I think it is too late for him. I suppose though that it is possible that the Affordable care act may become popular but from what I have seen I won't hold my breath.

We picked the portrait of the two of us.
